Résumé

The psychological and physical effects of not being reasonable force us to look for ways to achieve an ideal weight accepted by society. Being underweight is not well seen. Being overweight is not well seen, which causes many problems in the medium and long term. Ideal body image is obtained mainly in childhood and adolescence. It is formed by the experiential representation of one's appearance and body shape.
This idealization may not match the real and physical reality of the body because various biopsychosocial factors interact in the formation of the body image. From the cognitive-behavioral perspective, most previous studies agree that body image is the experience of one's body and is a multifactorial construct where cognitive, emotional, perceptive, and behavioral aspects interact. Cognitive-emotional issues are framed in an attitudinal dimension that includes thoughts and emotions related to focusing attention on the areas of the body that tend to be farther from the ideal (e.g., abdomen, hips), a drive for thinness and/or muscles, planned dieting and compulsive activity to change one's figure, comparisons with slender bodies, fear of gaining weight, and emotional states, such as anger, sadness, and anxiety generated by dissatisfaction with one's body. Due to the mental representation of the body, individuals may feel satisfaction or dissatisfaction with their body.
Dissatisfaction is associated with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and the risk of developing eating disorders and suicide in adolescence. The obsessive internalization of a particular weight and body generates bad consequences for health. In this sense, a bad attitude toward the body promotes inappropriate behaviors, such as nutritionally incorrect behaviors, compulsive physical activity, and compensatory behaviors-to modify the body in both men and women and is also a predictor of long-term weight gain.
The prevention of body image disturbance has become a relevant issue in public health agendas. In this Ebook you will learn:  Being in shape can be a disease weight loss and its downsides Gaining weight can be stressful too A healthy mind is a key to a healthy body Your ideal weight and how to maintain it When you are done reading this book, you will have gained a lifetime of experience in just a few short hours.
