The Society of Miserable Bastards

Thirty-five years ago, ten children were abandoned in a pit of quicksand by mile-marker thirty-five to protect the reputation of the all-powerful Chiswick family. Thanks to the timely intervention of the local bag lady, though, they survived. Now, meeting annually as The Society of Miserable Bastards, they move through the corridors of power visiting blessings, civility, and kindness upon the family that tossed them aside.
And at their meeting tonight, they will visit the grandest kindness possible upon a very special guest indeed...
