Résumé

New York City, 1976. The city is on its knees, financially broke and riddled with crime. And its mayor has just taken a bullet in the heart of City Hall. The city's most impossible case falls to Lieutenant Adam Rodgers, a homicide detective as weary and cynical as the city he has sworn to protect. A Vietnam veteran haunted by the ghosts of his past, Rodgers trusts his gut and the pavement-pounding work of his detectives more than the political machinations of the powerful.
But as he digs into the mayor's murder, he quickly realizes this was no random act of violence. It was an execution. His investigation peels back the glossy veneer of the city to reveal a rotten core of corruption that runs from the boardrooms of billionaire real estate developers to the back offices of City Hall, and even into the command structure of the NYPD itself. When the official order comes down to bury the truth and chase a convenient lie, Rodgers is forced to go rogue.
To save a young detective framed for the crime and expose a conspiracy that threatens to consume the city, Rodgers must forge dangerous alliances in the shadows-with community activists, mob captains, and a crusading journalist who threatens to reopen the wounds of his own failed marriage. Pushed to the brink, Rodgers must decide how many rules he's willing to break, and how much of his own soul he's willing to sacrifice, for a truth that no one wants told.
The Silent Heart of New York is a gripping, atmospheric noir thriller about the true cost of justice, where the only thing more dangerous than a killer's bullet is the truth.
