I was six when it happened the first time. Mom and Dad had taken me to the Museum to see my favorite exhibit, the dinosaurs. The lights blew and the place was in total darkness. Every one was freaking out, except for me. I didn't se what the problem was, I could see perfectly fine so I led them out onto the street to the surprise of everyone and the guards. I didn't need his flashlight. Then, when I turned 15, I stepped on a shadow and stepped beyond it into a realm that was one thin layer away from our own.
In it, I could travel immeasurable distances, reach into anything and come back. I called it Between and the US government wanted to use it for their benefit. They told me my parents were killed because of me and the Director took me to his home and raised me until I was old enough to go to work for him. He promised to help me find the bastards that killed my mom and dad. He didn't tell me he was responsible or that my parents weren't really dead---
