BéKa is a code name--almost like a scientific formula that two Toulouse-based science students could have come up with together. In fact, BéKa is the special alchemy created by Caroline Roque and Bertrand Escaich. Caroline was preparing her doctoral degree in biology while Bertrand was beginning to write scripts for comics. When she wasn't studying molecules, Caroline was writing novels and short stories that would soon be adapted into film.
When one of her stories won a top prize in a Toulouse festival, the temptation to devote herself to full-time writing became too strong. Caroline and Bertrand became a fully-fledged writing duo. Together they have worked on several successful series, including "Chinn" (Bamboo), "Filles Uniques" (Dargaud Benelux; Europe Comics for the English edition) and "Coeur Collège" (Dupuis; Europe Comics for the English edition).
In 2022, they teamed up with Bob to create "L'École des petits monstres" (Dupuis; "The School for Little Monsters, " Europe Comics).
Bob, whose full name is Robert Cepo, was born in Paris in 1973. He started studying graphic design but was expelled just before his eighteenth birthday and went on to have several different jobs before landing his first contract in the audiovisual industry. He was twenty-one years old when director Francis Nielsen, then head of Rooster Studio, hired him for the series "Il était une fois les contes, " and gave him the nickname Bob.
From 1995 to 2000, Bob worked on a series of productions, in several different studios. He joined Humanoids Group when they purchased Yéti Entertainment, a small games company he had created with friends in 1998. During this time, he also tried his hand at writing and directing, while continuing to create graphic art for series and games. A few years later, he is called by EuropaCorp to work on the trilogy "Arthur and the Minimoys" and on "Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart." In 2014, Bob is an art director at On Entertainment, when he is offered to work on a comic book.
He meets BeKa, scriptwriters of the adventures of Teddy Riner, published by Dargaud. Under the pseudonym Jikkô, he brings the adventures of the famous judoka to life during three albums, all while keeping a foot in the world of animation and cinema, where he works on the development of projects for foreign studios... In 2021, he rejoins the scriptwriting duo BeKa and starts the series "L'École des petits monstres" for Dupuis (Europe Comics in English).
