Résumé

In a near-future world irrevocably altered by the 'Great Deluge' - a cataclysmic freshwater event that transformed the American South into a vast, treacherous inland sea - Dr. Peace Alistair leads a clandestine research expedition. From a makeshift dock perched precariously on the partially submerged outskirts of historic Atlanta, Peace helms a small, custom-built research submarine, the Nautilus Minor.
Her mission, funded by enigmatic private benefactors, is to explore the newly revealed, ancient depths. It's not merely sunken cities she seeks, but the source of strange, harmonic signals that predate recorded history, now echoing from beneath the newly formed waters like a forgotten song. What she discovers transcends archaeology: an impossible, crystalline structure, humming with a silent, profound power that seems to defy the laws of physics.
Dubbed the "Saltwater Scroll, " this artifact contains a complex, multi-dimensional message, not merely from another time, but perhaps for humanity's very existence. Peace, driven by a profound, almost spiritual idealism, believes this discovery could be our last, best chance at understanding - and perhaps correcting - our species' destructive trajectory. Her pragmatic operations manager and lead engineer, Molly Chen, struggles to keep the expedition grounded, sensing the immense, dangerous implications of what Peace has unearthed.
Thousands of miles away in a rain-slicked London, Sarah Thorne, a brilliant but cynical intelligence analyst with MI6's anomalous events division, grapples with a cluster of seemingly unrelated global incidents. Tectonic shifts in the Pacific, sudden, localized energy fluctuations in Siberian permafrost zones, and then, the highly redacted intelligence about anomalous energy readings emanating from the newly formed North American inland sea.
Sarah's intuition, sharpened by years of observing humanity's self-destructive patterns, tells her these aren't disparate accidents. A cryptic, almost poetic message from her estranged former mentor, Patrick Vance, simply reads: "The past has found its voice, Sarah. Listen before it screams." Patrick, now a retired operative with a labyrinthine network of contacts and secrets, refuses to elaborate, but his urgency forces Sarah to dig deeper, connecting the Atlanta anomaly to a pattern of global awakening - a pattern that suggests a hidden intelligence is stirring, reacting to something profound.
The two narratives hurtle towards an inevitable convergence. Peace, Molly, and the Nautilus Minor find themselves targeted by militarized deep-sea drones and a ruthless paramilitary organization determined to seize the Scroll. Meanwhile, Sarah races against time to expose the conspiracy before the Saltwater Scroll's full activation. The ultimate revelation is chilling: the 'Great Deluge' was not a natural disaster, but an intentional, ancient defense mechanism, activated by the very intelligence Peace has awakened.
The Scroll is not just a message of peace, but a final test from a civilization that tried to guide humanity once before. If humanity proves worthy, it offers enlightenment; if not, a final, irrevocable cleansing. Peace must make an impossible choice: unleash a power she barely understands, trusting humanity to rise to the occasion, or bury the secret forever, abandoning any hope of transcending their destructive nature.
Sarah, in London, understands that Patrick's "peace" is a dangerous gamble, but it's the only one left. The fate of the world rests on whether Peace can interpret the true meaning of the Scroll, and whether Sarah can expose the forces trying to control the narrative before humanity's final chapter is written in saltwater.
