Résumé
One cannot start on Baptisms without establishing this fact; Water Baptism is a Sacrament. A Sacrament is an efficacious sign of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to His church. They are visible, outward signs, ordained by Jesus Christ, that signify and impart inward divine life and grace to believers. Meaning any sacrament on its own course is a way to originate or replenish a form of life in Christ.
The word Sacrament is born of the Latin root Sacramentum simply meaning an oath or mystery, it is a rite done for a deeper unobvious meaning that is hidden to the natural eye; or every Sacrament is a mystery given to the church to unfold what Christ has altared for His church. These rites are central to Christian Life, functioning as channels of spiritual rebirth, nourishment and healing. Common examples include Baptism, Holy Communion, and Matrimony.
One sure thing is they are not just symbolism but are on their own independent spiritual veins supplying the Christian with a set end or one can say they are beacons of the inward dispensation of virtue and grace towards His church by Christ through the Holy Ghost. This calls for caution! One has to stop and rethink it all over again. If indeed Water Baptism be a form of imparting of the life of Christ, does it mean it is not just an outward show of triumph? Indeed, there is a lot more to it than just an exhibition of triumph but it is an actual death we enter therein being buried in to the water so we may rise anew born of water and Spirit.
It is not just a demonstration of a past event but in its self Water Baptism is an actual death we approach to die duly so we may rise in Him with Him.
