Résumé

This book details the journey of a male survivor of sexual abuse. Its not a book with horrific details but rather a story of courage. From being a confused boy who didn't even realise that he had been a victim, who society never allowed to be a victim because of the prevailing narrative that boys couldn't be raped.  Martin Survived 5 suicide attempts, addiction and destructive behaviours and went of to start the first male survivor support groups in Africa.
This is a story of hope, recovery and victory. In this story Martin details the journey's of not only his own life, but also seven men that were in his groups internationally.  There is the multiple murderer, the playa, the addict and all in between.  If you are struggling with people pleasing, addiction, depression, suicidal ideation, then you will gain immense from this book.
Martin Is the founder of MatrixMen, an organisation that has supported men who have suffered sexual abuse as children.  It was the first one in Africa. I have seen the way men and boys have been side lined and ignored and I feel that I have been called to highlight these issues. Martin has been counselling and supporting men caught in addiction as well as survivors since 2011. I have been in the trenches with the men that have suffered the most, Ive heard their pains and their cries for acceptance and healing, yet most seem to feel that healing looks the same as what is offered out there.
Men are different and we need our own spaces to heal and get support.
