The Pioneer

Ben Brown stares out the front of his trusty star-freighter, the deep black of space spread out before him, held back by a thick plastisteel window. The bridge of the Pioneer is cold. Too cold. The atmo controls are malfunctioning again. His old ship is showing its age, and not in a good way. But that's not the only problem she's having. For some, yet unknown, reason her engines refuse to cooperate.
Now the Pioneer is just another floating hunk of metal in deep space with little chance of rescue.
