Résumé

Annie Bell, a fourteen-year-old girl with a tragic past, becomes entangled with these strange pages when she finds one with a warning: "Do not speak his name aloud." That night, her brother Jamie returns home with no mouth-silent, and forever altered. As more pages appear around town, they begin to reveal dark secrets, forgotten memories, and terrifying truths about the people they touch. Each page seems to know things no one has spoken aloud, and with each new message, the townspeople's lives begin to unravel.
The pages become more insidious, not just revealing secrets but rewriting reality itself. People forget who they are, their identities fading like ink on paper, replaced by strange, unfamiliar lives. The Paper Men-the mysterious, faceless figures made entirely of folded paper-start appearing, manipulating memories and bending timelines. They don't kill their victims. They edit them, stealing their stories, until nothing of the person remains but a paper-thin shell.
Annie, desperate to understand what is happening, returns to the burned library, only to find that the library's basement holds a doorway to a space between stories, a realm where reality and fiction blur. Inside, she discovers the horrifying truth: The Paper Men are not merely entities-they are the consequences of stories forgotten, altered, and abandoned. As the town's reality shifts and cracks under their influence, Annie realizes she is being rewritten herself, her life no longer hers to control.
With time running out, Annie learns of the legend of the Last Sentence-a final page that can undo the edits and stop the Paper Men. But finding it means offering up a sacrifice: a new identity, a lost memory, or perhaps even her own existence.
