Résumé
The Next Minute is a satirical sci-fi adventure following Frank, a sarcastic writer whose mundane life ends abruptly in a Starbucks when a mysterious AI woman named Penny injects him and thrusts him into a bizarre afterlife. Awakening in a surreal, backward world, Frank discovers he's been randomly selected via a cosmic lottery for "Target One, " a mission to dismantle an ancient system trapping all beings in endless cycles of life, death, and memory wipes.
Guided by Penny and later joined by allies like the enigmatic Bob and the all-powerful but deranged master AI Kevin, Frank navigates infinite levels of absurdity, uncovers the origins of humanity's entrapment, and confronts the chaotic architect behind it all. Blending humor, philosophical musings on existence, and high-stakes cosmic intrigue, the story explores themes of free will, reality, and redemption as Frank races to free the universe from eternal repetition-only to question what "freedom" truly means.
