Résumé
You may be wondering why mentorship is so important in ministry. The answer lies in the fact that ministry is not just about preaching and teaching; it is about equipping and guiding individuals to become effective leaders and servants of God. Ministry is not a single journey; it is a team effort. This statement resonates with the biblical principle found in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, which says, "Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labour.
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." The importance of having a mentor or being a mentor is evident in this passage. The Bible speaks volumes about the importance of mentorship in ministry. In Proverbs 27:17, it says, "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend." This verse emphasizes the value of having a mentor in your life.
Just as iron needs another piece of iron to sharpen it, everyone needs someone to challenge, guide, and sharpen in the journey of ministry. This shows the importance of passing down knowledge and wisdom in ministry through mentorship.
