Résumé

Intrigue, mystery, danger and romance along the Maine coast. This early autumn/late spring romantic thriller tells the story of a former army officer (Vietnam) whose quiet, semi-isolated life is interrupted when one chilly morning he stops to help a woman whose car has broken down. The woman is the very beautiful Adriana Barrows, an attorney who lives in Portland, Maine's largest city, 150 miles away.
For his kindness, she insists he allow her to take him to lunch, and reluctantly, he agrees to drive to Portland several days later. To his surprise the luncheon is far more than a nice burger in one of Portland's Old Port trendy lunch spots. Instead they visit a rural estate in the foothills of Maine's western mountains where he begins to see that Adriana is far more than she at first appears. He suspects there might be something almost dangerous about this woman, or her past.
Gradually, he becomes more and more intrigued with this woman, who reassures him that she knows their age difference is not as great as he first thought. As their relationship strengthens, elements of her past...her involvement with international drug smuggling and the antagonism of an angry estranged husband begin to emerge to threaten the quiet, peaceful beauty of the Maine coast. A pleasant evening of fine music at a concert by Portland's world class symphony orchestra is punctuated by violence, followed by the sudden disappearance of the beautiful Adriana.
Now terribly in love, he tries to find her, and what happened to her, but all he is really able to find is a trail that disappears into the mists blowing off the Atlantic Ocean. Long before in combat in the Vietnam War, he learned that too often when things seem too good to be true, they usually are. Now, once again, he will relearn that lesson the hard way in the The Mists of Adriana. The Mists of Adriana takes the reader on a carefully drawn, near pictorial trip to some of the most beautiful locations along the Maine coast.
This thriller shows how closely related are some of the evil events and forces in the world to some of the most beautiful and tranquil of places. The Mists of Adriana contains all the best ingredients of romance, intrigue and danger in this first in a series about this couple whose pasts meet their futures in an unexpected confluence amidst Maine's sparkling beauty.
