Charles Klein (1867-1915) and Arthur Hornblow (1865-1942) wrote the 1905 play The Lion and the Mouse. Klein was a London-born playwright who worked in New York theatre, and Hornblow was a writer and editor of Theatre Magazine. Their drama ran for 686 performances on Broadway and was adapted into a silent film in 1919.

Résumé
A judge is destroyed by a financier who owns the newspapers, the senators and the courts - and the judge's daughter goes into the great man's house under another name to find the proof. Klein wrote the play, the biggest Broadway hit of its decade, and died on the Lusitania in 1915; this is the novel made from it. The lion is drawn from the trusts everyone in 1906 could name, and the mouse does the work.
