Résumé

***A HISTORICAL NOVEL THAT WILL CAPTURE YOU FROM THE BEGINNING***"Excellent narrative treatment of the novel and perfect agreement with the historical facts." Azay Art Magazine"A true narrative prodigy of what is perhaps the 7th generation of the novel of the revolution." Azay Art Magazine Based on real events. The Laugh of the Hyena is a novel about the Mexican Revolution told from the viewpoint of the soldiers and revolutionaries who were present at the battle.
Wrapped in the turbulence of the Mexican Revolution, a young railroad worker joins the Northern Division. He participated alongside General Francisco (Pancho) Villa in some of the most renowned battles of the time, including the Battle of Torreon, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, and Zacatecas, among others. He knows death, betrayal, pain, and indifference up close, but also love, friendship, and companionship.
He witnesses the baser passions unleashed by the murderous fury of a repressed society. Like the hyenas that emit a sound similar to human laughter when they take prey and are having a feast, so in the Mexican Revolution, the cannons thunder with laughter, taking their share of blood as brothers fight brothers for a better future. With a simple yet engaging style, this novel captures a pivotal moment in Mexico's stormy life at the beginning of the 20th century.
Inspired by the memories of his grandfather, German Olivares García opens a window to the voices of the actors who participated in it, not only the most renowned but also those who, in some way, served as cannon fodder.
