Résumé
The Last Jitney is the story of Chauncey Johnson who still drives a Jitney, or a pay by cash taxi, in 2020, the age of Uber and Lyft. Chauncey has a "grudge" against society and refuses to work for corporate America and, therefore, relegates to driving a Jitney. When the pandemic rocks the world, things change as everyone is alarmed by the sudden emergence of a virus that is killing people by the thousands. To make things worse, the country is devastated by the police murder of George Floyd and race riots coupled with looting and violence shatter the cultural relations in the United States. Chauncey is tasked with dealing with the cultural climate in Philadelphia while having to mend relations with his son who just came home for serving time for an armed robbery 12 years ago. The Last Jitney is an examination of race, family and friendship and is a relevant and current story designed for the masses.
