Résumé

He's the kicker. His job is to save the day. Callahan Stuart, star kicker for the NLF expansion team Portland Mountain Lions, is a savior. At least, he constantly tries to be. Problem is, he tries to save the wrong people. Usually women who don't actually want to be saved. They just want the bonuses that come with dating a famous footballer. Finally, finally, Callahan is done. With dating. With saving people.
With everything except football. That is all that matters anyway. Out on that field, he's a star. Always. So why bother trying to find happiness anywhere else?Enter Emma Munising, team photographer and, generally, giant pain in his ass. She is also brilliant, cheeky, confident, and everything he'd always avoided in potential dating material. But the more he gets to know Emma, the more he begins to wonder if maybe he's dating the wrong type of women.
Maybe he needs to take a chance on someone who might be his equal. Or, hell, even smarter than him. Except Emma has issues of her own, and they aren't the sort of issues Callahan could easily overcome. Just when he figures he should just settle for just friends, one of his crazy exes pops back into his life, and Callahan gut reacts by telling her that he's seeing someone new. And then he sends her a picture of Emma.
And things proceed to snowball from there. This whole let's-be-friends concept is not going as planned.
