Résumé

Forty-two-year-old Maren Aspen never expected to inherit anything magical. But when her mother dies, she leaves Maren a strange bequest: a vine-strangled greenhouse built into the shell of a derelict Pennine cotton mill - and a leyline beneath it that's slowly going dark. Maren is late-diagnosed autistic, two years widowed, and drowning in probate paperwork. She isn't sure she's the right person to tend a dying ley.
The plants seem to think otherwise. So does the retired battle-mage next door, the runaway witch's apprentice asleep in her potting shed, and the disturbingly handsome beekeeper who keeps turning up with honey and unsolicited opinions. As Maren learns to listen to the soil and read her mother's hand-written herbal, she begins to build something she hasn't had in years: a life she chose on purpose.
A greenhouse that pays its way. A circle of people who don't need her to be less than she is. But the leyline isn't just fading. Someone is killing it. And if Maren can't find out who - and why - Hollowroot will lose its magic for good. Along with the one plant species on earth that cannot survive without it. The Greenhouse at Hollowroot Mill is a cozy fantasy mystery about grief, growing things, and the stubborn work of staying alive.
For readers who loved Legends & Lattes, Under the Whispering Door, and The House in the Cerulean Sea.
