Résumé

Replace yourself. Or die. God has collided with the world's surface, splintering, imprinting herself onto its people. From the ashes, the brilliant city Iridescent rises, filled with millions of people holding the power to scribe life onto metal, creating technology, though they are tied to corporate work desks to keep the city industry churning. Benji, a timid infuser, lives a dead-end life, his greatest joy turning off his brain and venting on the most unsavory parts of the mesh.
When his greatest idol Stellien - an outlaw alley cat with brass for limbs - unexpectedly shows, his life is upended. He is forced to abandon ideals of not modifying his body, in order to join a gang of rogues that are ambitious enough to try bringing down a government that has placed tracking capsules in every citizen. As Benji makes his way through the blinding scenery populated with jackalopes, kelpies, and ailurans, he is faced with the need to shed all misconceptions of his world and its unlikely centre, Stellien, who does not appreciate his clumsy affection.
