The Fire Inside the MountainThe island is waking-and so is the fire inside it. Laila has guided the land's grief and balanced the sea's truth, but now the mountain itself is stirring from its long sleep. Deep beneath Trou aux Cerfs, the first keeper lies dreaming, and the twelve aspects of the island's soul are gathering. As the wells begin to boil and the earth begins to tremble, Laila must descend into the magma cathedral one final time-to face the sleeper who dreamed Mauritius into being, to choose between suppression and destruction and guidance, and to discover whether love can survive the becoming.
