For centuries, the kingdoms of Vaelis and Dorith have waged an endless, blood-soaked war-one where no soldier ever truly dies. But when Kael, a Vaelish soldier, becomes the first to die permanently, he awakens to a horrifying truth: the war is a lie. The two kingdoms are puppets of the same immortal tyrant-the Archon-who feeds on the conflict, erasing soldiers' memories to keep them fighting forever.
Teaming up with Lira, a Dorithian warrior who also remembers past lives, and guided by the Chronicler, a mad scholar who has witnessed centuries of resurrections, Kael embarks on a desperate rebellion.
