Lyndon Bill Medlin was at a book signing with his wife, Judith Ann Medlin, in a small desert community. The book signing ended early at the bookstore when a freak thunderstorm came out of nowhere with excessively heavy winds, which caused property damage and injuries, and killed one man and injured many others, in a mobile lab just twenty miles away. They picked up the storm on their storm radar and, in the company vehicle, drove to the site to survey the damage, taking a sample of the rainwater in a test tube to decide if their project, Thunder boomer, was responsible for the devastation.
