Résumé

The Nine must return... In one night, the world is struck by a plague of psychic terror. Alien abductions, demon torture and faery glamour lead to mass casualties, as 1% of the population are called to become shaman, intercessors between the spirit world and humanity. Humanity will obey.In the chaos, the lives of four people collide. Unemployed artist, Kel Rodrigues, is one of those chosen to learn the shamanic way.
His sister, Dr. Jen Rodrigues, is left running a psychic research institute in the middle of a mental health crisis. Lethe, a stage-show medium, must escape from deep within the spirit world where she was lured by Atumhotep, the herald of The Nine. Meanwhile Harry Wallace, framed for a terror attack in Edinburgh, uncovers corruption and conspiracy in Britain's shadowy espionage community, and a deep global threat.
Together, they must stop the return of The Ennead: the Ancient Egyptian Gods, who have coveted the Earth for millennia.
Richard grew up with the threat of mutually assured destruction, and public information films haunted by the robed Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water. His earliest reading included folk tales about plucky country folk fooling the Devil, alongside the heroes and creatures of Greek and Norse myth. In time he discovered the works of Stephen King, Clive Barker, and H. P. Lovecraft. In his early teens Richard started storytelling, including scripting a zombie movie one summer in which the local kids all had parts.
Much of his effort went into running roleplaying games, and eventually he started writing short stories too. Currently, Richard is working at the University of Glasgow, managing multi-million research projects and continues to write. He is married, with two cats.
