Résumé

This work explores the economic history of Canada, tracing its development from the early colonial period to the present day, while examining the key challenges and opportunities facing the country in the 21st century. From the establishment of a resource-based economy to its shift toward industrialization, Canada's economic trajectory is marked by its engagement with global trade, technological innovation, and environmental sustainability.
The analysis delves into pivotal events such as Confederation, the Great Depression, the rise of the welfare state, and the implementation of free trade agreements, offering a comprehensive understanding of the nation's economic evolution. The work also highlights the ongoing tensions between Canada's resource-driven past and the need to transition toward a knowledge-based, sustainable economy, particularly in light of climate change and the digital revolution.
Through deep historical analysis, primary source evaluation, and an exploration of economic policies, this study provides insights into the complexities of Canada's economic structure and its future prospects on the global stage.
