Résumé

THE CHEF'S KISSPenelope Geller, a masseuse, who lost everything worth losing and still got back up. A husband who broke her. A mother who died loving her. A best friend who disappeared. She carried all of it back to New York and started over from nothing and then she met Orion Valehart and for the first time in her life the love was real, the kind that danced with her in empty restaurants at midnight, the kind that went to her dead mother's grave and spoke to the stone, the kind she had waited her whole life for and finally stopped waiting.
She deserved him completely. That is the most heartbreaking sentence in this book. The Chef's Kiss. Everybody who ate the steak said it was the best thing they ever tasted. Nobody asked what was in it. Neither did she. A Dark love story. A horror. A Dark psychological thriller. All three wearing each other's face. WARNING: This is not a love story with a dark side. This is a dark story with a love inside it.
There is a difference. You will understand the difference by the last page. You will not see the ending coming and when it comes you will sit with it for days.
Mir Ahadul Islam was born on 15 November in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He started writing at seven years old, and by third grade, his first comic piece and his first poem had already found their way into his school's annual magazine. It was a small thing, two pieces in a magazine nobody outside that school would ever read, but it was enough. It told him what he wanted to do with his life. He returned to writing seriously in 2014, this time through horror-drama scripts.
Two years later, he was writing songs, screenplays, and serial dramas, building a body of work quietly, without rushing toward an audience. Then came 2024, the year everything he had been building began to surface at once: a book, series scripts, film screenplays, and more waiting behind them. His debut book, Mon Er Alo (Light of the Heart), a superhero novel, was published in Bangla and earned him two national awards, a moment he still describes as the first real proof that the work meant something to people beyond himself.
He followed it with The Teeth Beneath, his first book in English, a psychological thriller about darkness, complicity, and what it costs to love someone you probably shouldn't. The novel also reached #1 in its Amazon New Release category, where it remained for a week. What happened to that book afterwards is hidden inside The Chef's Kiss. The Chef's Kiss is his third book overall and his second in English.
It is the kind of story he keeps returning to: love that looks real until you understand what it actually is, and the slow, sickening recognition that comes after. Ahadul keeps his personal life close and shares very little of it. What he is willing to share, fully and without holding back, is what he writes. He still dreams of seeing his stories on screen one day, in film and on television, told the way he first imagined them.
