Résumé

When Chloe Parch accidentally bakes her mother-in-law's grotesque ceramic owl into a tuna casserole, she sets off a chain of absurd events that ripple through an entire apartment block. The owl's flight from the dinner table to the alley below collides with lives already teetering between comedy and tragedy: a noir-obsessed husband, a melodramatic fiancée, a melancholic loner, a meticulous taxidermist, and a retired insurance adjuster who sees liability in everything.
From a ruined proposal to existential alley philosophy, from forensic cataloging to noir narration, each character interprets the owl through their own worldview. What begins as slapstick chaos becomes a mirror of human performance, meaning-making, and collapse. Darkly comic and sharply observant, The Ceramic Owl Incident is a satirical exploration of how a single absurd object can unravel marriages, proposals, philosophies, and identities.
It is a novel about the fragile theater of everyday life - where comedy and tragedy share the same stage, and even the ugliest relic can become the center of a story.
Tsepang Trinity Mashigo was born on 13 January 2007 in Mpumalanga, South Africa. A musician, writer, and visionary creative, he has been building original worlds across sound and story from a young age. His artistry blends rhythm, language, and imagination into works that feel both experimental and deeply human. As a musician, Tsepang explores sound as architecture layering voices, textures, and atmospheres to create compositions that are ambient, minimalistic, and emotionally resonant.
As a writer, he brings the same inventive spirit to literature, crafting narratives that are absurdist, satirical, and filled with unexpected beauty. Driven by relentless originality, Tsepang sees creativity as a living system: modular, evolving, and infinite. His debut novel, The Ceramic Owl Incident, reflects this philosophy a playful yet profound exploration of chaos, comedy, and the fragile theater of everyday life.
He represents a new generation of South African artists who refuse to be confined by tradition, instead building bridges between music, literature, and identity.
