Kari Allen a passé son enfance près d'un lac du New Hampshire (USA) où elle a grandi avec sa famille. Kari a toujours aimé lire et écrire et a obtenu des diplômes d'anglais et d'enseignante en petite enfance ainsi qu'une maîtrise de lettres. Elle adore observer comment l'alphabétisation se développe chez les enfants, quel est leur rapport aux livres, aux mots et aux histoires. Kari a aussi travaillé avec le National Writing Project dans le New Hampshire, coordonnant des ateliers d'écriture.
