Fledgling news reporter, Brenae Riley, is willing to work her way from the bottom to get to where she wants to be. With her eye on the news anchor desk, she works tirelessly on the stories no one else in the studio wants to cover. After a particularly rough day on scene that ends in her being humiliated live on camera, Brenae is ready to look elsewhere for a job. Instead of accepting her resignation, the producer sends her on another assignment, this time for a story that carries some importance; at least in Texas.
She heads to Mesquite to interview up-and-coming local boy, and favorite to win the bull riding nationals, Roy Myrick. A stroke of bad luck and Roy coming to her rescue later that evening finds her saying yes to a night of dancing. She falls in love with this handsome cowboy two steps at a time. But will a series of threatening emails voicing anger about her dating a white man derail their romance, and possibly their careers?**A standalone short story, with no cliffhangers.**
