The Birthday Present

Julia is a married but sexually adventurous woman. She is discussing her latest experience with her best friend Sara who finds it hard to believe Julia spent a five figure sum on a professional hooker for her husband's fortieth birthday. This is no ordinary hooker though Beverley speaks three languages fluently, has a phd from Oxford University, is a respected author and didn't lose her virginity until she was twenty.
She didn't sleep with another man until several years later and the third man she slept with paid a kings ransom for the privilege. Beverley moves in exalted political and academic circles and despite the huge fee it turns out she's really doing Julia a bit of a favor because she likes her. As Julia tells the whole story to Sara we learn how Beverley lost her virginity and how different her experience was from those of Julia and Sara, we learn how Beverley's experiences in England and New York shaped her sexuality and just why it is men will pay so much to spend a single night with her.
