Résumé
In 1940s Canada, immigrant Peter Gabaldi's dreams of dancing with his sweetheart get dashed by the declaration of war on Fascist Italy. Before he realizes it, Peter finds himself stuck in an internment camp in Northern Ontario. Only two bright sparks keep Peter's faith alive: the chance to do his work as a cobbler repairing shoes for his fellow prisoners and the cheerful outlook of his friend, Luigi, who insists on presenting a beautiful face even in these dark days. Then one day Luigi's spark is snuffed out and Peter must present his own beautiful face as he waits for a chance to strike a blow for justice.
