The watch arrived in a plain brown box on a Tuesday, addressed to him. Ben Atkins didn't remember entering any competition but the letter said he'd won. He strapped it on that night. The next morning the app showed twelve hours of data, his heart rate, his sleep, his skin, all of it recorded before the watch had ever touched his wrist. Then the second prize came. Seven nights on a private island. Six guests.
All expenses paid. Ben went. Not because he believed it, but because the only way to find out who had been watching him was to walk into their house and ask. It was a simple break after all, and so he brought his sister, brother, and oldest friend with. Six people raised a glass on a beach at sunset. They awoke somewhere else, where the trials have rules, the rules have a body count, and nobody uses names.
Only the number on your band. Getting off the island is the easy part. Because Orion doesn't lose people. It tags them. and it always knows where they are.
