This story is loosely based on the real tragic events of the Axe Murders that occurred in 1919 New Orleans. The murders mysteriously started and ended that same year. In March 1919, the Axeman sent a letter to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, stating he would kill again on the night of March 19, 1919, but would spare anyone in a home where a jazz band was "in full swing". Till this day the case is unsolved.
