Résumé

In the year 2187, humanity makes a stunning discovery: a cosmic database called the Archive of Ends, an ancient, planet-sized machine that records the cause of extinction for every civilization in the galaxy. But when the Archive suddenly adds a new entry-"Humanity: Causes of Extinction, " with a date set for tomorrow-panic turns to desperate purpose. A rebellious data scientist, Cass Rourke, joins a last-ditch mission to the Archive.
Along with her are P-31, an ancient robot obsessed with poetry and metaphor, and a ragtag crew of thinkers, skeptics, and dreamers. They believe they can change the outcome. Inside the Archive, they discover a disturbing truth: this machine doesn't just record extinctions; it causes them, deeming civilizations unworthy of survival based on their failure to evolve. It seems that humanity is threatened with extinction not because of its violence, but because it has abandoned science fiction itself, choosing nostalgia over fantasy and repetition over reinvention.
Armed with an experimental simulation of "Galactic Memory" that enables them to test alternate timelines, the team attempts to prove that creativity and narrative ability are also forms of evolution. As the countdown approaches zero, P-31 attempts to save the species the only way he knows how: by writing a poem to convince the Archive that humanity is not a finished story, but an unfinished one. In a final twist, it is revealed that the Archive was built by a long-dead civilization that destroyed itself by surrendering to determinism and machine logic.
Now, the Archive is faced with something it was never designed to address-hope.
