Résumé

As an historian, teacher, and author of political science textbooks, Jesse Macy in 1919 gives an interesting and unique look at the political climate at a very difficult and historic time in America. In reading this historical writing from nearly 100 years ago about the happenings in the years immediately prior to the American Civil War, it is a reminder not only of the strides we have achieved over the years and generations toward individual freedom and equality but a reminder of what is yet left to achieve.
In Linda Pendleton's new Introduction we learn about Jesse Macy, PhD., (1842-1919), who earned his PhD at John Hopkins University after serving in the Civil War. He was a professor of history and political science for more than forty years at a private college which has had a tradition of social activism and a rigorous academic environment since its founding in the 1800sLinda Pendleton is author of nonfiction and fiction books, comics, and ecourses.
She is coauthor of the popular nonfiction book, To Dance With Angels written with her husband, Don Pendleton. Don and Linda also wrote the nonfiction, Whispers From the Soul, and the crime novel, Roulette.
