Terror Beneath The Bayou

What starts as a normal day for Sheriff's Deputy Justin Herbert and his rookie deputy, Gerald Wilson, quickly slides into a perplexing mystery when a man's body is discovered in the front office of an abandoned Union Town snack factory. Murder? Maybe, but the victim's body is dissolving like a stick of butter on a hot skillet. Local police and the town's coroner-on-call arrive to deal with the liquifying corpse while the two deputies search the remainder of the factory for evidence and other victimsTheir search reveals more bodies inside and outside the factory, prompting the lawmen to retrace their steps to vacate the premises.
Their retreat turns into a dash for their lives when footlong, flying creatures, looking every bit like overgrown beetles, swoop down from the building's rafters. Safely sequestered within a ten by eight foot, single-window cold room, the officers are horrified when they realize the building is the creature's nest. The parish's sheriff arrives on the scene but so do Union Town's mayor, a man with a vendetta agains the sheriff.
A pest control operator determined to get the contract to mitigate what he identifies as a beetle infestation adds to law enforcement's mounting problems. Added to the mix of on-site support are two well-known entomologists from the University of Louisiana. They find evidence the creatures' nest is a network of tunnels under Union Town with multiple entrances/exit holes. Even more alarming, these creatures are not of this world.
More bodies turn up. The creatures seal their nest entrances/exits indicating the deadly bugs are going through a transition, likely in preparation to abandon this nest for another. It seems this deadly menace cannot be stopped until the simplest answer offers total annihilation of menace.
