The book Teknik Asas Pembiakan Ikan Keli Thailand (Clarias sp.)was written to as a tool for aspiring aquaculturists in Malaysia, to be better equipped in the correct basic methods to practice induced breeding of the popular hybrid catfish (Clarias sp.). This book was written by two lecturers from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Kampus, Bintulu who between them have over 30 years experience in aquaculture techniques.
The book covers the basic steps of induced breeding using commercially available synthetic hormones for the production of fish fry. Modern aquaculture is a fast growing sector that sees ever increasing significance in the world fisheries production numbers. Success in aquaculture is tied not only to good management practices but also in a solid foundation of the underlying science necessary to guarantee success.
Our guidebook was written in the national language, Bahasa Malaysia to ensure equal access to all layers of the community. Currently there is still a lack of technical documents written in the national language by reputable authors with a firm grasp of their field of study. It is our hope that this book will be able to play some part in encouraging aspiring aquaculturist to start their own businesses for the benefit of our nation.
