Résumé

The concept for this book was inspired by a peculiar idea that occurred to me while I was drinking tea from an elegant teacup. What if someone lived in it? I began to imagine various characters. I then reviewed different teacups on Instagram and Google. For example, some teacups were used as candles and others as lampshades. Nothing too inspiring. So I began to wonder what else one could do with teacups.
I made a list of over 100 ideas. I then consulted my illustrator friend Katharina Klasen, who kindly volunteered to donate her drawing talent. We worked on the ideas together and I functioned as the art director. I was truly amazed at the drawings she came up with and we decided to do a whole book. I imagine this book would appeal to both adults and children but it is, for me, an artistic exploration of the magical and comical possibilities of an elegant teacup.
