Olly Hansen is short, fat, poor, and left-handed. Her home life is rough, she has only one real friend, and she just started sixth grade in fall 2002. When she and best friend Diego are recruited for their school's first Gifted and Talented program -- also called TAG -- neither of them know what to expect. As they get to know their similarly gifted classmates, the lifelong friends find that not all in TAG is what it seems.
Subjected to countless achievement exams, puzzles, and deeply unsettling activities by their creepy teacher, the "Taggers" uncover a sinister plot that calls into question everything they know to be true. When people start dying, Olly and her friends must unravel the convoluted and horrifying threads that have weaved together to dictate their fates.
