Summary of Emmet Fox's The Sermon on the Mount

Historical Christianity has largely concerned itself with theological and doctrinal questions, which have no part in the Gospel teaching. #3 The Plan of Salvation which was so prominent in the evangelical sermons and divinity books of a past generation is completely unknown to the Bible. Jesus did not authorize any form of Ecclesiasticism, and his teachings on the subject are contemptuous. #4 The history of orthodox Christianity is made up of attempts to enforce all sorts of external observances upon the people.
The Puritan attempt to enforce the Old Testament Sabbath upon Christians is a clear example of this.
