Résumé

This is the fascinating life story of Robert Louis Stevenson, the beloved author of classics such as "Treasure Island" and "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, " from his early days as an aspiring writer to his first published works, his love affair and then marriage to Fanny Osbourne, his success as an author, his many travels across Europe and the U. S., and finally his voyage to the islands of the South Pacific, where he eventually built the house of his dreams.
Stevenson never let his weak lungs (which he referred to as pirates waging a battle inside him) and delicate constitution stand in the way of his insatiable thirst for adventure, living life on his own terms until the very end.

À propos des auteurs

A scriptwriter for "great masters" such as Raymond Poïvet or René Follet, Rodolphe has collaborated with a number of great authors of the 9th art: Léo, Jacques Ferrandez, André Juillard, Annie Goetzinger, Max Cabanes, Griffo, Vink and Michel Faure! Many times nominated in Angoulême and winner of several awards, he has also worked in the children's book sector, writing the scripts for "Tom-tom et Nana" and even "Mickey." Aside from comics (numbering over 150 titles), he has also worked in YA novels and thrillers as well as books dedicated to rock music and the '60s. Dargaud has recently celebrated his crossing the threshold of 100 thousand sales for his series "Kenya" (also published in English by Cinebook), illustrated by Léo.
In another partnership with Léo, he has also worked on the "Trent" series, recently re-published in English by Europe Comics and Cinebook (2017-2018). It has often been said that René Follet was one of the most famous unknowns among the great artists who once contributed to "Tintin" magazine. An injustice when one considers that already at 14 years old Follet began his career with a series of illustrations depicting Stevenson's "Treasure Island." Literature has always held a key place in Follet's work, reappearing frequently through "Bob Morane." And he has always found himself alongside some of the comic book world's greats, from Tilleux to Duchâteau.
In the early 2000s, together with Duchâteau, Follet created the striking two-part series "Terreur, " based on the life of Mme. Tussaud, and more recently he teamed up with author Rodolphe to produce the richly textured "Stevenson, le pirate intérieur" (Dupuis; "Stevenson, The Pirate Within").
