Standing for God's Best is Dennis Wingfield's first book. For over ten years he has been providing an email devotional, Standing Firm, for Rejoice Marriage Ministries, Inc. His devotionals are directed at men praying for marriage restoration. Dennis relies solely on the Word of God as his source of guidance. What God revealed to Dennis during his own marriage struggles can't be taught in the classroom.
It comes only from experiencing first hand the sorrows of divorce and the joys of reconciliation. Dennis begins by investigating the Biblical origin and definition of marriage, and discusses God's ideal relationship between husband and wife. He then details what is expected of Christians if the unthinkable, separation and divorce, becomes a reality. This involves "taking a stand" for a spouse, which in essence means remaining true to the marriage vows, and having faith that God will direct the one you love back to the marriage in His timing.
During this "season" apart, Dennis shares with the reader how God can exchange fear and worry for His unfathomable peace. One of the results of this is that God will use the stander to further His kingdom, as is so remarkably demonstrated in the author's own life. God refined him, day by day, month by month, year by year. Finally, when the time was perfect, his marriage was restored, to the glory of God! Isn't that just the way God works!
