Résumé
3D CAD, or three-dimensional computer-aided design, is a design and development technology that replaces manual drawing with an automated process. This process creates objects in three dimensions. 3D modeling involves creating and saving geometric objects in three-dimensional form.
On the one hand, this allows for a realistic representation and better spatial percep-tion of the body, while on the other hand, the three-dimensional representations such as cross-sectional and elevation views can be automated.
This book is aimed at beginners who want or need to take their first steps with the new Solid Edge.
Program steps, customizations, and command functions are pre-sented in detail and supported by explanatory image sequences. The content is based on Solid Edge 2026, but is largely version-neutral. The second chapter covers the basic installation, the complex program customization, and the required additional application installations. The third chapter provides an introduction to the application of various representation techniques based on a ready-made template. Chapter four to nine demonstrate the various solutions for creating components us-ing the customized Solid Edge commands. For purchasers of this book, I offer the opportunity to order a free DVD upon presentation of the purchase confirmation.
Please see Chapter 10 for details. The book DVD contains the component files described in Chapters 2 to 9, the required templates, and a selection of standard parts from the StandardPart library. The component files were created using the academic version of Solid Edge. Furthermore, the complete book is included in a color edition in PDF format to mitigate the disadvantages of the BOD grayscale edition. Readership: Engineering students, graduates of master craftsman, technical, and tech-nical colleges, trainees such as technical product designers and industrial mechanics, as well as teachers in the CAD field, continuing education, and retraining.
