I have read and utilized many of the exercises from Karen's first edition of this professional and authentic book. I am a seasoned, trained vocalist and music teacher. For every point made, there is a reason WHY it's important. The 2nd edition of her book is even better than the first incarnation, if that's possible. It includes additional links, video clips, more personal bits of helpful information from Karen's life, and more success stories from her own students. Information about pitch, with and without regard to hearing loss, is offered. As I've gotten a bit older, I found that I'm experiencing some hearing loss, more so in my left ear- and Karen's suggestions are especially vital to me now as I negotiate performing successfully with this new situation.
There are so many solutions for each vocal issue, allowing for unique treatment for each and every student. I reiterate from my first thoughts on this book- No one solution fits all ... And that's exactly what makes Karen a great voice coach! I have gleaned a ton of new information from this book! In the new Chapter 4, I learned what 'havening' was. In the new Chapter 18, I learned about the 'emergency warmup' I can use when necessary.
I wish I had this book when I was first learning. But I can still learn more from it now!
