The Archipelago of the Consulate is a very mysterious place that holds the key to traveling to the even stranger Leserson Island. It is also the starting point for two separate series in one novel. By reading both "The Consulate Archipelago" and "Archipelago Lost, " you will uncover the secrets of the Leserson Consulate. The Consulate ArchipelagoMy name is Cassius, and my adventure started with the delivery of a mysterious guidebook to my deceased parents' house.
Then my office received a personal request email for me to travel to a place called Leserson Island. Of course, I couldn't drop everything and go. I had responsibilities and a dog to look after. Unless I got my sister to do it!Once I had everything covered back home, I started my journey to this Leserson Island. But to get there, I had to go to the Consulate Archipelago. Even though I had an invitation, the Consulate had full authority over who could travel there.
Only by fulfilling the requirements of the Consulate and meeting with the Chief Bureaucrat could I continue to Leserson Island. Yet these challenges were part of a culture and language which were unfamiliar to me. Also, the guidebook I had received had almost no information about the Consulate or the tasks I had to complete!Even more perplexing was why they invited me. I didn't know these people, but they seem to know about my family and me.
The longer I stayed at the Archipelago, the more of this connection I discovered. That is, presuming I can make it through these challenges and not be sent home! Archipelago LostCassius is missing! A journal of his last whereabouts, called The Consulate Archipelago, was sent to his former employer. Now, Matthew Boxelder, a search and rescue volunteer, was hired to find out what happened to Cassius, using the journal as a guide. Having read the journal is one thing; understanding the truth behind it is another, especially when the society is more advanced and more mysterious than Matthew thought.
Even getting to the place that Cassius had written about was far stranger than he expected. Yet Matthew arrived at the archipelago, an island chain that determines who is worthy of moving on to Leserson Island. There he finds out that he does not have enough money to continue on and must get more currency somehow. What makes things even more difficult is that these islands are off the grid, with cell and internet service being sporadic at best. Matthew starts to understand that this is a multi-layered society, with some people being sponsored by families and organizations to breeze through a variety of challenges and then travel to Leserson Island.
Others, who have come from many parts of the world, have to work there until they can go on. And even within that context, some jobs are more prestigious than others. Of course, the journal did not prepare Matthew for any of this. Nor did it prepare him for finding a published version of that same journal written in a foreign language. And so, Matthew Boxelder found himself in an ever-widening mystery with a continual swirl of questions: what happened to Cassius? Why were there published copies of Cassius' Journal and who created them? Why were so many people interested in going to Leserson Island? And would he find a way to get off this archipelago?
