Résumé

Content WarningScreaming in silence is a story of survival. The story includes elements that might not be suitable for some readers. Mentioned rape and other forms of sexual violence, child abuse, pedophilia, domestic violence and alcohol use are present in the book. Readers who may be sensitive to these elements, please take note. Come on a journey. and stay until the end, so that you might see how a person can heal to make something beautiful out of something so very painful.
As a little girl from Ontario, Sandra had to learn how to survive fast, the hard way. Subject to unspeakable violence and abuse from her very dysfunctional parents, sent to live with relatives, separated from her brothers, she ended up in foster care where things didn't quite turn out as planned, and was caught up in a cycle of questionable decisions, bad luck and vulnerability that led her to experience the unimaginable.
She was a runaway, involved in drugs, human trafficking by her own mother, and ended up in a cult where her husband and the elders had the last word over everything. This is a story of survival, of escape, of rebuilding confidence and keeping scary monsters at bay, in hopes of making a difference in her life, and in the lives of children who should never have to go through what she did. This is also a story of love.
About the author - Sandra DamSandra Dam, 60, lives quietly in a rural area of the upper Gatineau region with her love and life partner, Dan. Originally from Winchester, she moved around Windsor, Embrun and Ottawa to name only a few places, throughout her life. After leaving her marriage, she trained to become a lumberjack and is certified to work for commercial companies. She currently dedicates her time working to help families in difficulty stay in their homes, takes part in sports and activities and volunteers with children.
She is a strong advocate for children's rights and helping women find their strength and their voice. She believes in making good from her own difficult childhood experiences, and raising awareness on the violence, abuse and needs of children. They are our future.
