Résumé

"Scrambled Eggs, Walking on Shells" was inspired by growing up in an extremely abusive home, church, and community. My parents had 15 children. I was number ten. When I was born, you can bet yer boots that I was screaming for the doctor to put me back! Sadly, it wasn't safe in my mom's womb either. My dad was the rotten rooster on that scary old chicken farm. Every day, we ran for our lives as he threatened our deaths.
Mom's church didn't allow divorce. They said it was sinful. There wasn't any help then. There's still no help for some today. It's a harsh reality that those who endure massive abuse rarely find true happiness. If you've never faced this kind of suffering, consider yourself lucky. Against all odds, we all made it out alive. Physically, that is. Emotionally - not so much. We all, once innocent baby chicks, now bear physical scars.
However, the emotional scars we received are worse. We were a bunch of eggs that were cracked and thrown into the pan of scrambled eggs.
