Résumé
Sanity Maintenance engages readers of all ages in preventing depression through what is termed 'sanity maintenance skill'. While the concept may seem novel, it is deeply rooted in practising social intelligence-a skill developed through self-understanding and self-awareness. The book addresses critical social concerns often overlooked yet fundamental to mental health. These include feelings of inadequacy, the impact of others' opinions, abandoned dreams, lost lives, unstable relationships, family conflicts, and personal insecurities about appearance.
Ntandazo Nkonki offers profound insights into controlling your emotions, cultivating self-love, and maintaining a healthy level of self-interest. At the heart of the book is the belief that tranquillity is essential, as a relaxed mind becomes a bastion of mindfulness. The ultimate aim of this book is to equip you with the tools to maintain sanity, ensuring peace and stability in your daily life. About the AuthorNtandazo Zaka Nkonki was born and raised in Adelaide, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
The unique challenges of being the only child of his late mother, Nobuhle Nkonki, and the youngest child of his late father, Mziwamadoda Phukwana, shaped his early life. Ntandazo's journey from struggling with low self-esteem to personal empowerment over ten years forms the foundation of this book. He attended primary school at Khobonqaba and Vulindlela, followed by high school at Sipho Camagu. Nkonki pursued higher education at the University of Fort Hare, where he completed his undergraduate and honours degrees, the University of Johannesburg for a further honours degree, and the University of Pretoria, where he earned a Master's Degree in Research Psychology.
His academic focus has been on Sport Science and Psychology. Sanity Maintenance is Nkonki's second published work, following his debut book, The Friends.
