Résumé

Samhain does not require a bonfire, a permanent ancestor altar, or a quiet house. Samhain Without a Bonfire contains forty-five practical workings for the night people actually have: apartments, shared rooms, trick-or-treat traffic, pets, children, no-flame rules, limited privacy, interruptions, and the hour after everyone else has finally gone to bed. Ancestor work is separated into distinct operations.
You can remember without inviting, offer temporary hospitality without leaving food out overnight, welcome chosen dead, refuse unwanted dead, close an entire family line, or end contact cleanly. Divination uses paper lots, covered cups, ordinary playing cards, books, water, window reflections, and dream questions instead of requiring a tarot deck, candlelight, smoke, or dangerous Halloween games. The book also treats October 31 as a real household event.
Doors open. Visitors arrive. Costumes go on and come off. Threshold wards can be renewed between knocks. Apartment protections stay on the side of the building you actually control. The final section carries Samhain into winter with dark-commute protection, door and window wards, a holiday-spending boundary, seasonal storage, maintenance work, and a clear closing rite. Historical notes keep early Irish Samhain, Christian Allhallowtide, later Halloween custom, and modern Pagan practice attached to their own contexts.
The result is practical witchcraft with the magic left in it: open, remember, invite, refuse, ask, conceal, draw, protect, maintain, store, and close.
