Résumé
They recognize each other across twenty centuries. On the ancient Celtic feast day of Imbolc, a mysterious, but empty, box is discovered, built into a wall of a first century structure in the ruins of Carn Euny in Britain. Itching for distraction, the dig team drop a note into the box, and the next morning find an answer written in ancient Latin. Dig director, Doctor Daria Caitini, declares the response a hoax, but when more and more letters arrive on each successive Celtic feast day, Daria finds herself drawn into corresponding with the writer, a first century druid called Cadfan, who is hunted by the Romans, and who recognizes her dedication to her work and her essential loneliness, too.. This story is part of the Short Paranormals Collection.
A collection of novellas, novelettes, short stories and flash fiction, all featuring paranormal elements! Each is a standalone story. Eva's Last Dance Solstice Surrender Three Taps, Then. The Well of Rnomath Samhain Crossing A Halloween time travel romance novelette ___ Praise for Samhain Crossing: I thoroughly enjoyed this short and sweet story with it's fantastic character development and intriguing happenings. Some mystery, a bit of magic and a satisfying happy ever. I really enjoyed this short but totally absorbing book, as it was full of intrigue & promise. It has everything I like but condensed in a novellete: a little bit of archaeology, a little bit of pagan folk, a little bit of romance and a very good satisfying ending, just right for the season. Samhain Crossing, an absorbing and evocative novelette, is being released at exactly the right time.
The timing is perfect for a slightly spooky paranormal tale such as this one. It is a short read, but this author is quick to draw the reader into the slightly claustrophobic ambiance of an archaeological dig. The climax of the story was filled with tension; the resolution was rewarding. A wonderful tale for an October evening. ___ Tracy Cooper-Posey is a 2024 Aurealis Award finalist for best SF Novella and the author of over 200 published titles that blend romance, suspense, science fiction, fantasy, and historical intrigue.
She writes across multiple pen names-including Cameron Cooper (space opera) and Taylen Carver (fantasy, also an Aurealis finalist)-and has collected a long list of accolades, including the Emma Darcy Award, the SFR Galaxy Award, and fourth place in Hugh Howey's SPSFC#2. An indie juggernaut and genre chameleon, Tracy has been publishing since 1999 and running her own one-woman fiction empire since 2011.
Her stories range from sweeping sagas to bite-sized thrillers, and she's as comfortable writing tangled political intrigue as she is crafting a killer space opera saga. She's a strategist at heart-an INTJ with a sword-sharp mind and a whiteboard full of fictional worlds. A former magazine editor and romance writing instructor, she now writes full-time in Edmonton, Canada, where she lives with her husband and creative partner, Mark Posey.
She runs on Irish Breakfast tea, dark chocolate, and a fierce love of genre fiction-from Frank Herbert and Mary Stewart to Murderbot, MacLean, and McCaffery. The treadmill continues to go unnoticed. This is a Stories Rule Press Title
