When we first got married we both agreed that one day we would have a dog. I loved Collies and said that I would call him Sam. We had to wait for 18 years until we were in the right place at the right time and as if by magic a litter of pups was born 5 miles from us - we found out thanks to my father-in-law's contacts - and I fell in love at first sight as I had with David. Sam played an enormous part in our lives and although his story is written from his perspective and is therefore open to interpretation, all the events mentioned took place and we are very grateful for his time with us and all the friends that he brought into our lives that we met when we were walking both in Ireland and Spain.
